Pumpkin Carving

We love carving pumpkins. It's just so fun to dig in and pull out all of that ooey, gooey, sticky, gross mess! The kids decided that they wanted to enter the pumpkin carving contest at the school's Fall Festival this year. They discussed beforehand what they wanted their pumpkins to look like. They all worked together and got pretty creative. Here is a glimpse into our night!

For some reason they always thinks it's funny to pretend they are eating the seeds and pulp. My silly family!
...and here is the final product! Gage made Frankenstein. We found a stencil for the face and then he thought it would be fun to paint it! He used tent stakes for the bolts!

Amberly's witch! She used a carrot for the nose and Reeses' Puff cereal for the wart!

Carrigan made a Mummy. She got the idea from my 2x6 mummy I made a few weeks before! She was a pro with the glue gun!

The didn't place in the contest, but they were recognized for their creativity. They were each awarded with a fun little Halloween decoration. They are coffins with a skeleton that jumps out and screams at you when you get close. They think their prizes are hysterical and can't wait for next years contest!
